Final stage of this marathon Dakar 2020 #517
Short stage, 166 km timed on hard, dusty ground. Albert woke up hyper-motivated and was already skidding around the camp in his wheelchair. Normally, that level of excitement doesn't bode well, and Marc and I have had our fair share of overexcitement, and it never ended well, but today was the exception. The special was fast and enjoyable, except for the dust from a few vehicles we overtook. A fast track over open terrain, we had to pay close attention to the speed limit to avoid losing the correct line due to the countless tracks crisscrossing the road.
Without further ado, we have completed this twelfth stage of the 2020 Dakar and finished the first Dakar in Arabia with a more than worthy result, although far from the leading positions. In conclusion, it was a long, fast, and fun rally, not excessively difficult, but no less challenging, and with a very beautiful landscape. In my humble opinion, it was a learning rally; we got to know a new country, a new type of rally, and a new way of approaching the stages. You know, sometimes you win, and other times you learn. It's been a great experience. Being by Marc's side, as always, is an honor and a great pleasure. I can't think of a better teammate in the truck cab. I missed him so much on my past editions with the Czech! Being next to Albert, that's a different story. Albert is tireless; he's a fun, smiling guy, super positive, and always exudes good vibes. Living this adventure with him has been, to say the least, fun. We've learned a lot from him, and he from us. He has an endless capacity to surpass himself and overcome any setback. It's simply incredible what Albert is capable of with only two arms. He's a fighter and a role model. It was an unforgettable, very fun experience, and we're returning home with a clear conscience for a job well done. As Albert says, no limits in DNA. Here we close this edition of Dakar 2020 #517, I hope I haven't bored you with my thoughts. Until next time, Gas i xampany!!! Ferran Marco
