Vodafone y Netun Solutions se alían para lanzar el primer dispositivo luminoso IoT que sustituye al triángulo de emergencia en carretera

This device will automatically connect to the national traffic and mobility hotspot.

Following the approval of Royal Decree 159/2021 on assistance on public roads, which will require all vehicles to carry a connected emergency beacon, Netun Solutions , the Spanish company that develops the Help Flash emergency lights, and Vodafone Spain , have joined forces to soon launch the first IoT device to replace the emergency triangle on roads.

This is Help Flash IoT , an update to the beacon with NB-IoT (Narrow-Band) technology that will automatically connect to the DGT 3.0 platform in the event of an emergency. This platform, one of the most advanced and pioneering in Europe , is a communications ecosystem that the DGT has created for greater control and management of all assets that use the roads at some point (drivers, cranes, transport, construction sites, etc.) .

This regulation will have a 4-year transitional period during which this solution and the previous ones will coexist, until January 2026, when the IoT device will become mandatory . The Help Flash IoT device, which has been designed and developed in Spain and whose production will be entirely carried out in Zaragoza, is an update of the Help Flash light beacon, a pioneer in signaling vehicles in the event of a breakdown or road accident.

Thanks to this agreement, citizens will have access to the largest NB-IoT network on the market, with coverage throughout Spain. Vodafone's NB-IoT network allows a device to remain connected for its entire useful life using only its internal battery, also providing so-called "deep coverage" that allows normal operation in low-coverage scenarios. The goal is to offer users the best network available in any environment, ensuring device operation in the event of an emergency.

Help Flash IoT represents a significant innovation in road safety , as it will help reduce accident fatalities by connecting people, roads, and machines; it will provide safety and peace of mind when traveling; and it will reduce response times in emergencies.
