The person, the most vulnerable part of the road “xadrez”

O peão, a peça mais vulnerável do “xadrez” rodoviário

Too long before we could drive, we were all bad people. Did you know, for example, that a child under 10 years old commanding a velocipede is equivalent to a peão? Pois, and in the same way that there are regulations established for the circulation of two different vehicles, there is alsolegislation that regulates, among others, where and how we can circulate, in a position that we must occupy the roads or how to cross a road or roadway?

As the most vulnerable users of public roads, Help Flash offers some advice on how to protect yourself and your children when traveling on foot near traffic areas.

Onde e como circular?

According to Portuguese legislation, children must always choose to travel and circulate in the direction of two locations for which they are intended.

If you are not on a conventional drive, drive on the left side, facing the vehicles for the longest possible ride.

When traveling in a group, in tight areas, on berms or on roads without a berm or passeio, walk in Indian row. Thus, all members of the group walk in a more protected manner.

Cross the road safely

More, second or second street code, in article 101º:

  1. Peões cannot cross the roadway without first certifying that, in order to keep track of the distance that separates the two vehicles traveling in it at the respective speed, we can do so without risk of an accident.
  2. The traversing of the tire line must be done as quickly as possible.
  3. Peões can only cross the tire line in passages specially marked for this purpose or, when there is no road within a distance of less than 50 m, we must pass it perpendicularly to the eixo of the tire line.
  4. Peões do not have to stop in the road or use the paths and the berms in such a way as to impair or disturb traffic.

Also, you should avoid passing in local areas next to parked vehicles, traffic lights, bushes or other types of obstacles that may hinder your visibility for drivers, as well as along curves and intersections and junctions with unprotected passages.

As we were taught since we were little, after going to school, the safest place to cross, stop before the boat or the edge of the walkway. Check to the left and to the right and make sure that no vehicle is approaching. Do not run over cliffs and do not try to visually assess the speed at which they dislocate, since it may not be safe, wait and do not cross them.

Also when passing, try to establish visual contact with the driver and face the signal so that he notices what you intend to cross and wait for him to give way. Likewise, confirm that, on the other side of the road, no driver approaching is not present.

As you cross, continue to the left along the middle of the street and straight ahead, from the middle of the street to the other side. Make sure that a more distracted driver does not intend to overpass the pass and does not see you. Prevention is better than cure.

At night the perigos are redoubled

A night, or secredo to circulate safely along a public road is to see and be seen. For this, you should wear light clothing or even a flashlight, especially when driving on poorly lit roads. The ideal solution would be to use retroreflective material in clothing, backpacks, and clothing, such as armbands or retroreflective hair bands. We know that it is not always possible, but we know that a person using retroreflective material can be seen at a distance of about 150 meters, as long as he is dressed in light clothing and is visible at about 50 meters and in dark clothing at about 25 meters.
